Get to know Me!
Hi! My name is Jake S. Nelson and I'm a singer-songwriter and actor based out of New York City. I was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, and have had a passion for performing since I was 5. I graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre with a Musical Theatre emphasis.
I feel extremely grateful to have grown up in a community that values and continues fostering the arts. While my adoration for performing sprouted on a stage in a middle school gymnasium each summer, I was also inspired by the theatre I was fortunate enough to see around town. From local shows at the Children’s Theatre to the tours that came to the Orpheum (Wicked melted my entire world in the best way possible), I was starry-eyed and committed to strengthening my craft.
When I'm off the stage, I enjoy writing original music. My debut EP, "sandbox" is currently live on all streaming platforms under the artist name 'jakey jakes.'
I love to travel, yet I've never been out of the country - and that is truly a shame!
Specifically, I would like to visit Australia and the Netherlands!
What is Jake like you may be wondering?
I have been described as having the exuberance and charisma of Tigger and the grounded thoughtfulness of Winnie the Pooh.
I also happen to be an Enneagram number 7.
I am a firm believer in "everything happens for a reason."
